The Final Push

On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, TG's Tactical Warfare 2nd Corps Battlefield Division will gather together to bid farewell to a game we've had fun playing for two years: Battlefield 1.

This event takes place one hundred years -- to the day --from the cease fire agreement that was signed on 11:00 a.m., 11 November 1918, ending World War I. In addition to being an opportunity to game together as the entirety of TG’s Battlefield Division, the event is meant to underscore the special relationship that the World War I Allies share to this present day. Most of all, our banding together is to honor those that have fallen -- not only in this "Great War," but also in World War II, as this day is a Day of Remembrance every year (Remembrance Day, Armistice Day, Veteran's Day).

The Final Push begins at 11:00 a.m., EST (4 p.m. BST) on Sunday, the 11th, and lasts as long as there are members gaming together. All division members are encouraged to game particularly with members from opposite battalions.

IamJoker, XB1/2nd BTN XO, will be renting a private server, UK/EU based. We expect some latency issues, so it’s likely we will also be gaming on a public server, North American-based.

We’re hoping that members will take screenshots, game footage, and share interesting stories from the day, accomplishments, etc. Plans are to post these and make a montage for preservation for future Battlefield squads.

This goodbye to Battlefield 1 has been a team effort since day one; from l24n_d0m, PS4/2nd/Shropshire SA who came up with the idea, to XB1/1st CO TG The Messiah who named it, to XB1/2nd XO IamJoker who originally thought of tying the day’s Mandatory Practice into Remembrance Day and renting a private server, to all those participating in the discussions in the headquarters and general-discussion channels on Discord... get ready for The Final Push!

LoL Clan Wars Tournament

League of Legends - Clan Wars Tournament
With the end of the year fast approaching and winter setting in, staying inside is a lot more favourable these days. However, this is a good thing for the players of League of Legends as something exciting is coming.
To find out more about the upcoming event, i spoke to JaiyoHD, Assistant Competition Officer, who was more than happy to answer some questions about it:

TG SmokeyB: So I hear there is something big coming to LoL, can you explain to myself and TG what is coming?
JaiyoHD: In the first week of December, there will be a League of Legends tournament where TG will be competing against other big clans. The tournament will be spread out over four days and will hopefully be the first in many to come.

TG SmokeyB: What is the schedule for the tournament?
JaiyoHD: The tournament will be starting on Monday the 3rd of December and will finish on Thursday the 6th of December. The tournament will be running for 4 consecutive days so Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Each day one round of the tournament will be played meaning that there are 4 rounds in total. Games will begin around 7 PM GMT. On Monday and Tuesday, the round of 16 and quarterfinals will be played. They will both be best of three single elimination games. The semi-final will be played on Wednesday and the final and third-place match will be played on Thursday. All the games on Wednesday and Thursday will be best of five single elimination games.

TG SmokeyB: Can you tell us some of the pre-tournament rules?
JaiyoHD: To make sure that the tournament runs smoothly some pre-tournament rules were created so that no issues should arise during the tournament. Teams must comprise of 5 members minimum and are allowed to sign up with two substitutes. Teams must announce if they are using a substitute three hours prior to the games starting so that opposing team has time to review strategies, picks, and bans. If a team does not announce the substitute three hours prior to the start of the match they will lose all their bans for that day’s games. Lastly, we made a check in rule meaning that one of the two team leaders must check in an hour prior to the match starting to make sure that they are present and ready to play.

TG SmokeyB: Are there any in-game rules we should know about?
JaiyoHD: The in game rules are quite straightforward. No hacking or scripting and each team has a 15 minutes pause, if the issue cannot be solved within those 15 minutes they will either surrender or continue to play.

TG SmokeyB: What made you want to create this tournament?
JaiyoHD: One day I messaged the former HCO, TG The Punisher, with the idea of creating an event spotlighting 5 or 6 big games and having multiple tournaments for each game playing against other big clans. This would be a sort of Clan Olympics where each clan will get points depending on where there teams place in each tournament and eventually there being one winner with the most overall points. We decided that if we ever wanted this to happen we would need to run smaller tournaments first, to test run this idea and see how smoothly these tournaments would run. We came to the conclusion that a League of Legends tournament would be the perfect place to start and to go from there depending on how this tournament goes. Hopefully, it all goes to plan and we can start making these tournaments a regular occurrence also looking to start some in other divisions.

TG SmokeyB: Who else is involved in running the tournament?
JaiyoHD: TG The Punisher, the former HCO, helped me send in the sponsorship request. PoshGirl, the current LO for League of Legends, has been the main point of contact for TG teams and has been a great help in getting the TG teams interested. Otherwise, most of the organising and communicating with other clans has been done by myself.

TG SmokeyB: What is the signup deadline date?
JaiyoHD: There is no official sign up deadline but realistically we would like the 16 teams to be set around the 12th of November.

TG SmokeyB: How can people find out more information?
JaiyoHD: People can message me on the website or on Discord and I will gladly answer all questions.

TG SmokeyB: Is there any other important information you would like to share with TG?
JaiyoHD: f anyone would be interested in helping me organise more competitions, like this for other divisions, go ahead and send me a message either on the website or Discord!

An interesting time indeed for League of Legends. Great to see completions continue to appear. Great work to the Competition Team!
Thank you very much JaiyoHD for helping with this article.

Battlefield 5 - Silly Release Schedule?

Battlefield 5 - Silly Release Schedule Or Not?
We know with modern gaming, release schedules can be focused around early release, betas and premium limited time demos. It seems that Battlefield 5 has a odd approach to its release.

The official release date for Battlefield 5 is 20th November. However, if you subscribe to Origin Access Premier you can play the full game on 9th November. That's the full game available to play 11 days before it launches proper if you're willing to fork out for EA's premier version of Origin Access, which costs £14.99 per month or £89.99 per year.

It's the same with EA Access on Xbox One, you can you play a 10-12 hour 'so called trial' on the 9th November. Unfortunately, this cannot be said for players of PlayStation 4, whom have been left in the dark.

Now, if you have got the Deluxe Edition of Battlefield 5 which you have pre-ordered, you can play the game 5 days early from the 15th November.
Finally you come to standard edition of Battlefield 5. You can play that on the 20th November.

It looks like EA are using the early access to Battlefield 5 to encourage people to pre-order a more expensive version of the game. If you're a big Battlefield fan (like me), you can see why this would be worth it. You get a nice period of 11 days to play it before people play the standard version.

However there can be a problem with this, if you intend to get the standard edition of Battlefield 5 on the 20th November, you'll start to play  when loads of people will have 11 days worth of experience under their belts. All this after EA delayed Battlefield 5 by a month, too. We've had this with games in the past so everyone can adapt.

I am a massive Battlefield fan and it seems like I'm complaining about the release schedule.. but I'm not. I've noticed a trend in games been released nowadays and and i think EA have pushed up the bar.

Do you think this is good or bad?
Please leave your thoughts and comments below,
would love to hear what you think!

How Long is Red Dead Redemption II?

Howdy everyone (that's appropriate, right?). Red Dead Redemption 2, the latest title from Rockstar Games, and one of the most anticipated games of the year was released on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 just over a week ago. But just how long is the actual game itself? Many gamers are already reporting to have beaten the entire story. WARNING: If you read past this point, you may receive game spoilers.

Rockstar Games themselves have confirmed that the main story of the game will take around 60 hours to complete, depending on the player this may be more or less. This 60 hour time-frame given does NOT include side missions, stranger missions, random encounters, hunting/fishing missions, and many other pastimes included in the game.

The main story is split up into 6 chapters and a 2-Part Epilogue:
Chapter 1 - Colter: 6 Missions Chapter 2 - Horseshoe Overlook: 18 Missions Chapter 3 - Clemens Point: 17 Missions Chapter 4 - Saint Denis: 14 Missions Chapter 5 - Guarma: 9 Missions Chapter 6 - Beaver Hollow: 19 Missions Epilogue Part 1 - Pronghorn Ranch: 10 Missions (John Marston becomes playable at this point) Epilogue Part 2 - Beecher's Hope: 11 Missions
All 6 Chapters and both parts of the Epilogue complete the Main Story of Red Dead Redemption 2 and total up to 104 Missions -- 44 more missions than the previous game in the series, Red Dead Redemption (60 Story Missions), and 35 more missions than the hit Rockstar Game, Grand Theft Auto V (69 Story Missions).

Fortnite Crossplay Tournament

Fortnite Crossplay Tournament
Hello TG. Let’s get straight to the point, there is a TG Fortnite Crossplay Tournament currently been planned. Members who want to play need to sign up before 26th October. The tournament will start on the 27th October. Here's some information you need know:

Who Will Be Allowed To Take Part
The tournament will be a tournament available for all TG members and will be a crossplay tournament meaning Xbox and PS4 teams will be competing against each other. It will be CONTROLLER ONLY, no keyboard or mouse.
Game Times
It will be on a Saturday for two hours from 7-9 pm BST and from 8-10 pm EST. In these two hours, two rounds of the tournament will be played every week the first round starting at 7 pm BST/ 8 pm EST and the second round starting at 8 pm BST/ 9 pm EST. Just to make it clear if you cannot make the Saturdays don't worry you have till the Thursday to play out the games you missed.
Tournament Style
Each round in the tournament will be a best of 3 where you win a round by getting the most kills. To make it fair for the NA tournament each team can select a preferred server to play on. This means that one round one team will be playing on their preferred server and the other round the other team will be playing on their preferred server. If there is a third game the team with the most combined kills from the first and second game will decide the server that the game will be played on. If you lose in the first round do not worry there will be a loser bracket meaning that the winner of the loser bracket competes against the winner of the winner's bracket to decide who wins the tournament.
Prizes
10$ Gift cards will be awarded to each player of the winning teams (NA tournament and EU tournament).

The information above was provided from the tournaments sign up page. If you wish to join to the tournaments and read more about it, you can join up by clicking HERE!

League Of Legends Tournament

On September 15th,  League of Legends 2nd Cohort ran a different type of recruitment tournament to promote TG and recruit for TG by showing off what we do best, This tournament was open to all inside and outside TG who played league of legends!
A Brief overview from Magica:
"I think that the event was a success as it allowed our Cohort to come together and have fun while welcoming new members and showing them a positive atmosphere. The majority of our sections took part, with TG Vel'Koz being our winning team. "

Below is an interview with @Magica and @TG Bumblebee

What was the driving factor for this contest?
Magica: My main goal when creating this tournament was to show what our community can offer to potential recruits before signing up, as well as showing that recruitment doesn’t just have to be sitting down and messaging members repeatedly.
TG Bumblebee: This was to showcase TG to potential recruits and show them what we can offer them as a community.

Did you notice any other benefits apart from the new recruits(assuming there were some)?
Magica: I think that it was an event that the Cohort could all take part in, whether in an ST section or IN Section due to how it was structured. It brought people together outside of their usual sections and hopefully sprung some new friendships along the way.
TG Bumblebee: It did bring a lot of people together from all teams and even IN members mixed in with ST members and people got to know each other.

Would you recommend this to other divisions and why?
Magica: Definitely! Although there is a need to start off small with the number of recruits to see what is manageable, it's a really great way to engage potential recruits within the community and show all of your Sections/Squads great qualities.
TG Bumblebee: For sure, it brings people together and gives people the responsibility to grow within the community, events attract attention; either that is TG members or someone new.

How did the contest go? was it successful and why?
Magica: After a few hiccups along the way, it ran very smoothly! Starting it off small with the number of recruits was something that I think helped this a lot, and we brought some of them into the Cohort. Over time re-doing this and growing the size is something I look forward too.
TG Bumblebee: It was successful and I think everyone had lots of fun playing in it, IN members got to play with some ST squads and it helped integrate them into TG,

Thanks Magica and Bumblebee for taking time to answer some questions,   Recruiting can always be a daunting task and sometimes thinking outside the box and trying new things can work.

Thank you for your TG service! ~ TGSullivanWorkshops

In this installment of our 'Thank you for your TG service!'  I am interviewing Brigadier General TGSullivanWorkshops. He is currently leading the World of Warships division as the division officer. Sullivan has been a member of Tactical Gaming since April 2016.

TGxLadicius: Since joining TG, what would you say your biggest obstacle? How did you or how are you working to overcome that?
TGSullivanWorkshops: The biggest challenge I faced was when I first became a squad leader in Arma division. At that time some of the CoChad put a lot of pressure on the squads to play the game a certain way and we were not allowed to play it any other way. Additionally there was a bit of a power struggle between the battalions. We had complicated SOPs(standard operating procedures) that I had to get certified for in order to teach them to my squad. The problem was that no one in first battalion, CoC included, was certified for them even though some of the staff knew perfectly well how to do them. Our AT at that time was not able to attend 1st battalion practices so for a while I pulled double duty and joined both battalion’s practices in order to get certified. Eventually as I moved up the staff and some pressure came from up top to change a few things, we managed to get communication between battalions to be a lot friendlier and also to respect each other’s views on how the game should be played.
TGxLadicius: You have held nearly all positions from SM to DO.  Can you think of a time where you have found a TG program to be useful in helping you achieve your goals, or mitigate issues?
TGSullivanWorkshops: I found the ATC system in Arma to be particularly useful to me. In order to get our ready team fire assist badge we had to be certified for the first ten SOPs. Although as I mentioned above obtaining certification when I was in Arma was difficult the SOPs themselves were useful and taught me a lot. We learned stuff like demolitions, medical procedures, map skills, and planning. All of that helped me learn not just a ton about the game but also how to lead and how to teach complicated game mechanics quickly and efficiently which has proved a great help in all the positions I have filled since then.
TGxLadicius: I personally love the way in which we execute the Chain of Command Practice Program (CPP) nowadays. Which ways have you seen the CPP benefit you now or in the divisions you've served in the past?
TGSullivanWorkshops: My experience of CPPs up to this date has been lackluster to say the least. Arma barely used them as leading a fire team, which I did almost every practice, was pretty much the same as a CPP. The CPP was just extra paperwork. I have not been able to utilize the new CPP protocols yet since we are still working on the training manual for Warships but I expect it will be a great benefit to the division.
TGxLadicius: What would you say to a member of the public that is on the fence about joining TG?
TGSullivanWorkshops: If you’re looking for a community that creates a wonderful atmosphere of teamwork and forms firm friends this is the place for you. We are a fun loving group that is well structured and stable. Come join and fight together to win the day.
TGxLadicius: What piece of advice would you give to a squad member considering a staff position?
TGSullivanWorkshops: Remember that the members are the most important part of TG. Without the members there is no point in the staff structure. All we would be is an administrative system with nothing to administrate. So listen to those underneath your command and always try to serve them. Don’t get high minded just because you have a staff position and keep on enjoying the game.
TGxLadicius: Finally, I'd like to say thank you for your TG service, and thank you for taking the time for this interview.
TGSullivanWorkshops: Thank you for having me. I think what you guys do in the news team is important and you guys do it well. I raise my glass to a bright future for Tactical Gaming!
