Xbox Series X/S - Specs/Pricing/Release Date

Xbox One Series X Is Getting Tasty

Now, last month my colleague here at the News Team released an article on the Xbox Series X and we now have some juicy bits of information to drop on top of it. Now as we all know, the battle of supremacy in the consoles has been raging for what feels like an eternity and we now have the specs for the Series X and his little brother hiding behind him.

So lets get right into it with the current information we can find...
CPU: Eight-core 3.8GHz (3.6GHz with SMT) custom AMD 7nm GPU: 12 teraflops 1.825GHz (locked) RAM: 16GB GDDR6 Frame rate: Up to 120 fps Resolution: Up to 8K Optical: HD Blu-Ray disk drive Storage: 1TB NVMe SSD
Now for me this doesn't mean too much but essentially what this all comes down to is a massive increase in the speed games are loaded in, as well as being able to load 2 games simultaneously and load from one to the other without shutting the first off like we do at the moment. As well as the quicker loading, the Series X is aimed at being designed to have a focus at playing games smoother and faster in higher detail at up to 120 frames per second bringing it closer to a gaming PC.

In our previous article we mentioned the good stuff of the new Xbox running the same Ray tracing tech that was brought to Modern Warfare and some other more recent releases, as well as auto low latency mode and dynamic latency input. Once again a lot of words i struggle to grasp with but its all boiling down to the direction Microsoft are going. 4k gaming at 120 fps with all this background goodness bringing you more immersion than ever. Now the Series X will be compatible with 8k however with the focus so heavily on the 60fps/120fps smooth 4k gaming its sort of taking a back seat at the moment. More of a spare round in the chamber to be fired at a later date, kind of deal.

At the moment of writing this article it does not appear that the Series X is intentionally pushing towards any kind of a strong VR bias but who knows what the future of gaming ever truly holds? Microsoft's chief marketing officer did say "we do not have any plans specific to Xbox" regarding questions on virtual reality or even a combination with mixed reality which begs the question why didn't he say Microsoft instead of Xbox?

The new controller is very similar to the current controllers with 3 tweaks, a share button has been added for...well...sharing....and the directional pad has had its influence taken from the current elite controller’s as well as the pad being foreword compatible. Which essentially mean the controller will work with the Xbox and PC. However good news for those forking out for the elite and elite 2, they will be compatible with the new console so no need to be making any new investments on that side.

Speaking of investments, there is a little brother in the works to the X, the Xbox Series S will be a slightly shorter version with less power and no disk drive and will be unlikely to consistently hit the 4k threshold for gaming. The reasoning of this seemed a little off until we look into Microsoft's new service called Project X cloud will we check into in a moment.

Now, it has been confirmed that the Series X will not be getting any generational exclusive games for its first year of release, instead you will be getting 2 versions of the same game via a new service called 'Smart Delivery' as long as the games development company have set it up as well. Essentially if you were to buy a game on the Xbox One and then upgrade to the Series X you would still have the game...no issue there, but the game installed on the Series X would be a Series X specified version designed to run on the more powerful console and utilize it as intended. Think of it as a free way of remastering 360 titles to the XB1. Also the Series X will be backwards compatible 3 generations depending on the game.

(above pulled from digital trends)

Now, above is the comparison between the Series X and the Series S that set to release around the same time as each other and the Series S is looking to be aimed more at using the project Xcloud. At the moment, PlayStation have a system up where you can stream play games from the cloud, a service not included in Microsoft's arsenal, apart from a sneaky hint all the way back to the E3 demo in 2018 where it was mentioned that it was being worked on. It was later code named Project Xcloud and appears to be making its way into the Series X and Series S hence the lower powered little brother not getting its disc drive. Now little information on prices and exact ways this will work but its getting a rough idea around the $10-$15 a month mark which isn't too much of a kick in the teeth compared to the game pass live bundle there at the moment, whether all 3 roll into one or Xcloud is a separate entity remains to be seen.

Currently the Xbox Series X is due to release on November10th at $500 with the Series S Dropping the same day for $300. Pre orders begin this month on September the 22nd

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Multiplayer Reveal

This is an add-on to a previous article written by @TG Darkis located below:

Oh man! Boy am I hyped for this. The Call of Duty: Black Ops Multiplayer was revealed just a few days ago on September 9, with never before seen gamemodes and features. The FULL 4 HOUR REVEAL is below, and the normal reveal trailer is below that too.

Now that you've seen a little bit of the action here, let's have a look at the next generation of Black Ops Multiplayer: with deniable operations, signature combat and a connected experience across the community.

DENIABLE OPERATIONS
In Black Ops Cold War, you can choose your own operators to play as, just like the previous Call of Duty games, with their own backstories which click into the game's larger narrative, which carries over into multiplayer which takes place in the years after the events of the singleplayer campaign.

You'll be dropping into deniable operations all over the world, including the North Atlantic, pure amphibious warfare between anchored battleships, submarines and smaller boats to move around. The searing deserts of Angola, where you have to capture a crashed United States satellite and make sure it doesn't fall into the wrong hands. To the neon-soaked streets of Miami South Beach, where combat reaches from into the bars and clubs to down on the coast and into the water. Take advantage of the wide-open combat spaces with room to weave and vehicles to take control of, or the traditional three lane map design.

The traditional fan-loving 6v6 modes include: Team Deathmatch, Domination, Free-for-all, Hardpoint, and Search and Destroy. Control is also returning from Black Ops 4, but new modes are coming to the game from Day One of the release, VIP Escort, Combined Arms, and Fireteam.

- Treyarch, on the VIP ESCORT

- Treyarch, on Combined Arms

- Treyarch, on Fireteam

SIGNATURE COMBAT
Signature combat means a lot of fast action, fan-favourite weaponry, fluid movement, and rock-solid game mechanics. All of the pieces have to fit just right for each new entry in the series. It's about giving the players the tools they need to win. The new Create-a-Class is slot-based, giving players the freedom to choose a primary, secondary, tactical, lethal, Field Upgrade, WILDCARD, and a full set of Perks in every loadout.

Signature combat has to include a wide range of Cold War era weapons. Including the "time-tested" AK-47 assault rifle, the burst M16 tactical rifle, AK-74u submachine gun, and a whole new Black Ops arsenal.

There are a LOT more changes happening, a bit too much to put on paper here, but in game it's been carefully implemented to serve a more balanced and fulfilling multiplayer experience across the board.

A CONNECTED EXPERIENCE
Black Ops Cold War brings Next-Gen, Cross-Gen and Cross-Play compatibility so players can play with their mates no matter which platform they're on across current-gen consoles, next-gen consoles, or PC. All post-launch multiplayer maps and modes will be free for all players and the game will feature a unified progression journey shared with Call of Duty: Warzone, adding inventory items that can be used in both titles. Both games will also share post-launch content from a narrative standpoint, interweaving some of the themes, weapons, and Operators of Black Ops Cold War into Warzone.

--
The game releases on November 13, but before that, the Open Beta kicks off in just a couple of weeks, starting off on October 8 for Early-Access pre-orders on PS4.

The PS5 - Continued...

PlayStation 5 Continued...

This is an add-on to a previous article written by @JaiyoHD. It is located below:

The PS5 will be able to play previously installed PS4 games from the PS Store and PS4 discs, just without the enhanced graphics unlike the Xbox Series S and X which can't support Xbox One disc inserted games.

Integrated SSD storage is another feature coming to the PS5 as well as possibly Dolby Atmos. Adding on to the article above, the PS5 is set to be released during the holiday season, rumored to be around November 20 as most consoles are launched on a Friday, and both the PS3 and PS4 were released on the third Friday of November, in this case it's November 20. Another date is November 27, which is also Black Friday... Sony might be planning a bit of a dirty move there.

Pre COVID-19, Sony was planning to sell around 6 million PlayStation 5's by March 2021, but with the global impact of COVID and everyone in their homes, Sony has doubled production and is aiming to have 10 million sold by March. The price is still unconfirmed.

That's all the need-to-know news for now. Stay safe, have fun, and keep on gaming!

What It's Like To Be... Episode 12

What It's Like To Be...
Squad Assistant for an CP squad

Hello TG and welcome to the twelfth episode of  this series. In this series, titled 'What It's Like To Be..", I will be interviewing members of TG throughout the ranks, ranging from squad member right up to the CoS. As well as interviewing CoC members, I will also be taking the chance to interview certain members in support positions. This series will be published on a monthly basis.

Today I am interviewing a fellow Call of Duty player, Dussttin, who is Squad Assistant of Jutland, PS4's successful Competitive Squad.

TG SmokeyB: What attracted you to this position?

Dussttin: I enjoy playing Call of Duty competitively and thought this was the way I could best represent Tactical Gaming. It’s also given me the chance to play with other talented players, where we can all combine our tactics to improve together.

TG SmokeyB: You've been in your position of Squad Assistant since March this year. What is the main reason for staying in the position?

Dussttin: The main reason is that it’s been really fulfilling getting the opportunity to rebuild the competitive squad, which had fallen off a bit recently. Looking at how far we’ve come over the last couple months is a little surreal and a testament to the work put in by the entire team.

TG SmokeyB: Can you tell us the best highlight while serving as a SA?

Dussttin: Definitely consistently sitting inside the top-50 and 1% of teams on Gamebattles. We’ve also accumulated over 100 wins in July and that’s just going to continue as we make a playoff push. As a squad, we’ve overcome a lot of adversity and stuck with it despite things getting tough at times. It makes it all feel worth it, especially getting to do it with my brother @Koda_Nole.

TG SmokeyB: What attracted you to TG when you first joined?

Dussttin: The closeness of the community and how personable everyone is is very enticing. To me, it’s the people that make Tactical Gaming. We all enjoy playing video games, but it’s hard to find people you enjoy playing with. I’ve found that here and hope that continues for a long time. Shout out to Amp and Mitchell for supporting us from the beginning.

TG SmokeyB: I imagine you are busy with been a Squad Assistant of a CP Squad. What is it about being a SA that you love?

Dussttin: Outside of playing, just the conversations with the guys during and in between matches. We have some pretty hilarious stuff that goes on and usually have good chemistry. It’s great when your teammates can be actual friends as well. Thanks to all the guys for the attitudes they bring daily; @iz_Slick, @Koda_Nole, @Tippyy-_- & @AyeOli.

TG SmokeyB: Can you tell me a little more about your TG history?

Dussttin: I joined Tactical Gaming last spring during Blacks Op 4. Shortly into my tenure, I knew I wanted to be on the best squad and worked to build that. As we went into Modern Warfare, I kept that mentality as a squad leader and squad assistant. I’m proud of what we’ve done but there’s more coming.

TG SmokeyB: If you could change one thing in TG, what would it be?

Dussttin: At least in the Call of Duty Division, there’s not much I would change. The entire regiment has done a fantastic job of recruiting. When I first joined, there were five or six squads with not many members, now there are 14 squads and two competitive squads. Like I said before, it’s the people here that are the drawing factor to TG. As long as that continues, this will be an attractive community for many to call home.

TG SmokeyB: Just for fun. If you where having your last meal tomorrow, what would it be?

Dussttin: Hmmm tough, but a good t-bone steak with some grilled shrimp and bread rolls would be tough to beat.

Your squad has done some great things recently and have been, rightly so, been awarded for it. Well done to you all!

Many thanks @Dussttin for taking part in this interview!

Stay tuned for the LAST article next month! We are coming close to the end of this series, but a new series is coming.

The work and quality level with which Jutland (CP) has been disposing of other teams on the ladder is mind boggling. Their dedication to completing matches this month was as strong as ever, and they look to be playoff bound if they can pull out a few more big wins to sever it before roster locks are in effect. Currently Jutland (CP) sits 55th of about 9,074 teams at the time of this request. Congratulations Jutland (CP). Thank you for all you do to get TG's name our there and represent us professionally.

Werewolf (CP) performed very well this month limiting losses and rising BACK to the top 10 for the second time this season. At the time of this recommendation to TWC, they were sitting 8th out of a total ladder team count of 2,722 or in the top 0.003%. This team is poised to clinch the playoffs halfway through September and will represent Tactical Gaming on a very big stage!
