Big news, we’re finally here, ready to upgrade our website and not a minute too soon. As some of you know, we’ve been trying to upgrade our site for quite a long time now but faced several challenges.
The various applications behind the scene were very outdated, no longer supported and started to break down. Our host provider had indicated that our site size was the biggest they had and because of this, we’re on an old dedicated server which was not sustainable for much longer. We’ve made several changes to reduce our database sizes such as the reduction of the amount of PMs and we’ve done much needed in house cleaning of our Administrative Tracking System (ATS) and forums. It didn't impact the site, but we've been doing a lot of Discord cleaning as well. Visually, you will notice some minor changes but nothing drastic. So you won't be to lost 🤣
In addition, we have multiple improvements for the Administrative Tracking System (ATS) but were dependent on the site upgrade. For examples:
- improving the registration to boot camp process.
- Sending out emails when discharging people
- Improving the PB and PPR generators
- Automatically Award the Good Conduct Medal to members every 6 months.
- And more…
As I previously announced, we’ve implemented many changes to reduce workload at all levels including the removal of the Boot Camp forums. Well, again, we’re kicking it a notch. I’m very happy to announce that the website upgrade will also include the improved registration to boot camp process:
- After the registration form has been completed, RECs will no longer wait for the registration to be approved before getting access to complete Boot Camp (BC)
- A new private message notification will immediately appear after completing the registration form and as usual, they will receive the same instructions to complete BC.
- When BC has been completed, Division Staff will review and assign to a Squad.
So the Training Office will no longer be involved with RECs which allows Assistant Trainers (AT) to really concentrate on their fundamental objective of helping their Divisions on all training matters.
In addition, we’ve lost too many RECs due to emails being sent to the spam folder, or technical issues where emails were not being sent. The upgrade of our site will include a new tool running in the background which will ensure emails are being sent.
Lastly, emails will be sent when people are being discharged.
The upgrade will occur Monday June 19 and as such, the site will go up and down for about 24h. Note any issues and open a ticket here.
