The Forsaken Countdown Is On

The myriad of changes to the Destiny experience have begun! This past Tuesday a 35GB download was required to prepare players for the forthcoming Forsaken launch which drops On September 8th. Along with a new campaign mission, this time in the Reef, home of the Awoken, an area little explored in the Destiny universe, Forsaken will add new weapons and weapon types, ‘supers’, more customisation options and a tracking system, which will allow players to track what they need to do to acquire various titles and armour/weapon sets. But what has really gotten the Destiny community talking is the story behind the Forsaken expansion. The death of Cayde-6 and the quest for vengeance.

Another of the larger elements of the changing face of Destiny is the addition of a new mode, a hybrid of PvE and PvP entitled Gambit. This mode pits two opposing player teams against each other in a race to acquire motes by eliminating AI enemies and banking them. Teams will also be able to shut down their opponents bank and launch a single player attack on the opposition team via a portal under correct circumstances. This new game dynamic should lead to some interesting game play (and sounds like a lot of fun)!

There are a variety of methods to purchase the Destiny Forsaken Expansion; At present there is a COMPLETE edition available containing the base game, the earlier season expansions, Curse of Osiris and Warmind, the Annual Pass for Forsaken (which includes the soon to be released Forsaken package and the next two planned DLC content drops, Aces Wild and Penumbra) or the LEGENDARY edition, containing all the aforementioned material, minus the yet to be released future expansions post Forsaken. There will also be an Annual Pass sold separately for those not wishing to purchase the base game and/or previously released content, and a package containing Forsaken only, with the future content not included.

As with all Destiny expansions, a new Raid will feature. With the launch of Warmind, TG’s Destiny Division attempted to become the first community to complete Spire of Stars. To their great credit and much heralding, they were the fifth team to do so. With the launch of Forsaken, TG’s Destiny alumni set their sights on being the first group to best the new Raid. TW SARGE, Destiny’s PS4 Brigade Commander had this to say about the Destiny Division’s attempt to be world’s first when Forsaken’s Raid arrives;

" I'm very excited about the reveal of the new expansion coming, and this new Raid coming out seems like it's going to be more challenging than the last. Worlds first may take on new meanings for this Raid, but one thing is for certain: Destiny Division will represent Tactical Gaming honorably again in whichever avenue we choose to take as we tackle the new raid on launch day. I also heard that the Xbox Brigade challenged the PS4 Brigade on getting the first completion, so that is something that both Brigades are going to be working toward as well. I anxiously await the release and am eager to go for that worlds first title again".

When asked about preparing for an entirely new Raid and the mechanics involved, SARGE states;

" Those of us who are keen on the Raids have been doing little things and having talks about beating the existing raids in interesting new ways to challenge ourselves and push our problem solving and enemy clearing skills to whole new levels. Speed run challenges, one-phasing boss kills, weapon specific boss kills, etc. These are some of the things that are keeping us on our toes and I'd like to say that the Destiny Division has some of the most efficient raiders".

Those that have PS4 with PS Plus membership, can get the Destiny Base game for free during September.
