Battlefield V Review

BATTLEFIELD V REVIEW

th.jpg.e46e30e6a1e324bdb30b296a8371ee28.jpg

So it's finally here!

The much anticipated game BATTLEFIELD V was supposed to be released in the month of October. However, due to what I can imagine is some issue with the game and release, DICE and EA decided to release a month later. November soon came around and the release for the deluxe edition was 15.11.18. The standard edition was released 20.11.18. I'm sure the servers will be full to bursting with enthusiastic players hoping to fall in love with the new game of their favourite franchise!

Their have been plenty of reviews over the last few days regarding BFV. Some were good, a few were quite negative. Personally my view is that this game is in a different direction compared to Battlefield 1 and in fact more similar to Battlefield 4 than anything else, it's a faster paced game and not only that, one of the most historically accurate games regarding world war 2 as the war stories are well written. I asked a few of my squad mates in the Vikings squad of the Xbox One division and the majority of responses were positive and quite enthusiastic in terms of the game play. The main point was that squad cohesion and overall teamwork is the absolute key to success! The final change that seemed to be well received was the weapons and character customisation!

I asked IamJokerI, the executive officer of 2nd battalion, Battlefield division his thoughts on the game, he said:

"As someone who has played every Battlefield title at or shortly after release since BF2. For me BFV in its current form lies somewhere between absolutely brilliant and ridiculously broken. The major changes to gun mechanics and noticeable changes to the core mechanics, have in my opinion made the game better than it has ever in many respects. But as with all Battlefield titles since the beginning of time itself, it comes complete with a plethora of potentially game breaking bugs (from bells hanging in the air after the destruction of a church, to you being stuck at spawn unable to move or even being revived under a seemingly indestructible table and therefore trapped)".

"All in all. BFV is an extremely fun game regardless of bugs with a lot of new mechanics to adapt to and learn. It feels somewhat half baked in terms of content, but this was entirely expected given their "Roadmap" of future releases. It does however have solid foundations in place to be an amazing Battlefield title for years to come. That is assuming patches and future releases don't break more than they fix in typical battlefield fashion".

alot of people have said similar things to joker, however there are a few that have said pretty much the opposite.

I asked some of the staff members at a store in the UK called GAME they also had mixed views on the game. One member of staff specifically said that he was "dissatisfied with the historical accuracy" and how the mechanics of the game functioned. He felt the game was extremely "clunky and to similar to cod"

I like the game quite a lot, but the difference between TTK and TTD bugs me.

I enjoy BFV a lot. I find that currently it is a good middle-ground between BF1 and BF4. probably my biggest dislike is with the war stories. They were fun and cool little things in BF1, and they still somewhat are... but I have always been a fan of a proper campaign. These short war stories fail terribly in making me actually care about the characters, and in an effort to make an impact on you, the stories feel cliche, lackluster and very predictable in how they will likely end, and by the time you have gotten through them you are left surprised at how short they actually are.

I am looking forward to The Last Tiger war story, as i am very pleased that they have decided to show the war from the view of the opposite side. Unlike BF1 which seemed to believe that Russia, Germany, Austria-Hungary and the Ottoman Empire had simply no voice, or at least not one that mattered. But perhaps I am in the minority in that belief.

I really like the idea of the 'Roadmap' approach, though it seems utterly ridiculous with how they have approached it. My interpretation was that they would release content based on how they war progressed. Instead upon release we are given vehicles and weapons that did not appear until the later years of the war.. namely the Tiger 1 (1942), STG 44 (1943), MG42 (1942). Yet they choose not to include weapons such as the M1 Garand which was in service in the US army from 1936, yet they include the other American weapon, the M1A1 carbine which came into service in 1942

As I remember, that indestructible table was blown up by some dynamite I throw and then revived you.  I didn’t quite anticipate killing an entire squad when the building collapsed but heh ‘we were ok’:)

Thanks mate. They need to input all avenues of the war such as your guys and various other countries would be the best then.

I read that the war story "The Last Tiger" will likely take place in Tobruk as the same character appears in the intro sequence where you are attacking Tobruk. And if that is true, then I hope that we get proper representation as it was Australians that held onto Tobruk while the rest of the Allies tried to break through the Germans to reinforce us, but alas, if the BF1 war story "the runner" is anything to go by, they will muck it up haha (for reference, only a couple hundred Australians landed at cape helles where the story is set. We landed tens of thousands far north in ANZAC cove)

We can only hope eh? Let's see what comes and if they are genuine about wanting the "real feel" from these games then they have to incorporate the Aussies absolutley!

I think the historical accuracy of the game was ever going to be as was, that's just not possible and i think we need to look at this as what it is which is an arcade shooter over a simulation. The attention to detail in the game is mind blowing with regards to the guns, vehicles and maps and for the most part accurate. Though if we had a WW2 game that was accurate following the progression of the war we'd have a very boring game indeed...i'd rather have it inaccurate than boring any day :D

There are a few bugs still but for me personally, i'm really enjoying this game. It took a little adjustment time but after that it's really something special even with the bugs! Loving the new TTK, the vehicles/guns....everything! Some things need tweaking...the JU-88 is basically the heavy bomber from BF1 which is a bit exasperating, and some of the guns are basically death machines but apart from that..all good.

Christmas update I'm thinking will improve the game 100% need some guns that need nerfing and release some more content! :)
