What do we think about the game?
So, the new game that all Star Wars fans have been waiting for is finally here, and it is good!
Some people worried that the game controls, especially the flying controls, would be too like an arcade. They are in fact, rather good. Learning to fly is quite easy. The controls can be changed and modified in the settings to suit your style and sensitivity.
The cockpit is super realistic and remarkably like the movies. The attention to detail is incredible. The game offers a lot of customization options for the cockpit such as holograms and hang downs as well as being able to paint the ship exterior.
Different ships have a variety of sub weapons and extras, such as missiles or turret mines. All ships can divert power to various core systems of the ship such as shields, engines, or weapons. An additional option allows the power to be balanced between all three systems. Switching power to any of the systems will give you a boost in that specific function, e.g. more power to engines will allow you to move faster. Ship repairs can also be used when the shields are gone.
Rebels or The Empire… Choose your destiny!
Customize both pilots and ships. There are 4 types of ships on each side: The Fighter, Bomber, Interceptor & Support Craft. Each one has different sub weapons.
For example, the Support Ship can drop health recharge icons around the battle, to help allied ships. The team play is needed on multiplayer, but you can still be a solo fighter ace.
I've asked one of the members of Tactical Gaming, @TG D X, to speak a little bit about his experience of the game:
"Squadrons is an easy game to pick up, it can be chilled if you want it to be or competitive if that’s your thing. The graphics are beautiful to look at and I haven't stopped having fun since I picked the game up. It reminds me when I was a kid and use to play the x wing and tie fighter games back in the 90s. Squadrons has a lot of versatile play styles and they all come together when you work in a squadron. I've tried a bit of Lone wolfing, But found the game experience to be much better with friends. At 30 quid it’s a bargain. Buy it play it. And destroy the rebel scum..."
If you enjoy playing the game and want to help a new Division within TG grow, the SW Squadrons Division has just opened. If you wish to transfer to that Division, contact your CoC.
The graphics in this game are absolutely amazing! So much detail to immerse yourself in!
Just on the side note, the Single Player campaign is definitely worth playing as well!
You can currently get a free trial via the EA Home.
What do you think of the game? Are you going to get it in the future?
